TWO SEWING OPTIONS
Option 1 – Flat Pillow
A simpler construction without a side gusset. A great choice for those who prefer an easier sewing project.
Option 2 – 3D Pillow with Side Gusset
Creates a fuller, more sculptural Christmas tree pillow. Recommended for more experienced sewists, as sewing the gusset requires careful handling of curved edges and tight corners.
Slightly stretchy fabrics make this process easier. Non-stretch fabrics can also be used but require more patience and precision.
FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS
Suggested Fabrics:
-
Bouclé
-
Fleece
-
Minky
-
Plush fabrics
-
Soft, slightly stretchy upholstery fabrics
For the original sample, I used a soft, slightly stretchy bouclé fabric. Its texture and flexibility made sewing around the curved edges easier.
You can also use non-stretch upholstery fabrics for a more structured finish, although working around the curves may be more challenging.
